1. PORTRAIT OR LANDSCAPE
The problem with most note-taking apps, such as GoodNotes and Notability, is that they don’t include any features that allow you to rotate your iPad/tablet and interchange your planner between landscape or portrait. So before you even think about what kind of planner you want, you’ll have to decide whether portrait works for you, or whether you prefer landscape.

2. DATED OR UNDATED
For me, it’s dated every time. I’m busy enough as it is, so the last thing that I want to do is have to number each month and weekly/daily page before I start to plan. That being said, undated planners are great purchases in the long run as you can use them again and again! So really its whether you prefer time-saving to value for your money!

3. WEEKLY OR DAILY
This one really depends on how busy you are and how you use your planner. I don’t use my planner to time-block or plan out every detail, I mainly use mine to remember appointments and to write out to-do lists, grocery list so a weekly planner is best for me so that I can have a weekly overview of my week. However, if you prefer to block time off during your day then a daily planner might be best for you!

4. DO YOU NEED TO PLAN FOR A SPECIFIC PURPOSE?
Maybe you don’t make a habit of planning out your day daily but instead just need a planner to keep you on track of your goals? There are plenty of planners out there specific for your purpose, whether it’s finance planners, business planners or planners for fitness & health.
Planners for a specific purpose are great as they are a lot more detailed than yearly planners which may only include generic pages such as contacts, birthdays, etc. meaning you’re more likely to stay on track and reach your goal!
